Balbharati was founded on auspicious Ram-Navami day, Year 1956, in the small suburb of Mumbai. Since last 48 years, Balbharati is working to fulfill its vision, which was envisaged by Shri Pramodbhai Tanna.

The vision - "Balbharati aims at preparing a child for life, which means imparting relevant knowledge, developing appropriate skills, competencies, values, and creative thinking, keeping in mind the usage of modern scientific methods of education"- Still continues after almost half a century.

Shri Pramodbhai Tanna, a motivated Founder of the Balbharati Always said, "A small lantern that sheds only enough light for the next step will illuminate the entire journey. So, every small beginning such as the first step is a start of long journey."

More and more like minded people joined the movement and started assisting the first Venture the Child Centre or a "Bal Kendra".

The Bal-Kendra conducted Scientific Film Shows, free Camps, Games, elocutions and meetings with noted personalities where organised. Shri Dharamshibhai Purshottam were impressed by the activities conducted
by the workers and gave Rs. 25,000/- from Narayanji Mulji Charitable Trust to build a building and start a "Balmandir" (A nursery) and to carry on the child development activities.

The "Shilaropan Vidhi" was done by a noted Gujarati Laureate and academician Shri Manubhai Pancholi ("Darshak"). He said in his speech "If you have planning of one year, plant seed of grain, if you have a planning for 10 years grow a fruit bearing tree, but if you want to make planning for 100 years grow a child." . Balbhararti is working on these words year after year.
